Grace Notes
The Feast of the Ascension, May 29, 2025
Grant, we pray, Almighty God, that as we believe your only-begotten Son our Lord Jesus Christ to have ascended into heaven, so we may also in heart and mind there ascend, and with him continually dwell; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit. Amen. (BCP, p. 226)
For many months we have been following the life of Jesus in our liturgy. We anticipated his incarnation during Advent; celebrated his incarnation at Christmas; remembered his manifestation to the Gentiles at the feast of the Epiphany; recalled his suffering and death that culminated in Good Friday; and joyfully welcomed his resurrection. Today we stand with his followers as he ends his earthly sojourn and ascends back to his Father in heaven. God, out of his love for us, invites us to share in Christ’s life by dying to sin and rising to new life with him in baptism; continuing our transformation into Christ’s likeness by the work of God’s Spirit; and finally going home with Christ to enjoy God’s presence continually.
In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also. (John 14:2-3)

New Windows for the Parish Hall
Grace Church recently had the second-floor windows replaced, and we are scheduled to have the building trim painted. These items were planned and budgeted. As often happens with aging buildings, additional needed repairs have been discovered. All the windows in the Parish Hall require replacement. The estimated cost is $7,000, which is not in the budget. We would like to have the window replacements done as soon as possible, before there is any water intrusion. Fortunately, funds have been made available to match donations up to $3,500. Any donations towards the “windows” fund are greatly appreciated! Please designate “windows” on the memo line of the check.
Morning and Evening Prayer via Zoom
Morning Prayer is said Tuesday and Saturday mornings at 9 A.M. Evening Prayer is said Wednesday evenings at 8 P.M. Please contact Andy Bonnell at [email protected] if you would like to join these Zoom meetings.
Sunday School Needs
We need a second person in the Sunday School room through May. If you can sign up for a Sunday, please do so on the sign-up sheet on the Parish Hall bulletin board. The Diocese requires two adults for every Sunday School classroom. We also need someone to volunteer to lead Sunday school in the 2025-2026 school year.
